just dinkin around with the settings on my new bike, a '02 rfx w/ '05 pack rear/rockers, a '06 dhxc and a '05 66 rc. i weigh about 160lbs w/o gear, im old and slow and have no big bike experience.

currently i have no psi in the 150mm fork, im close to full open (fast) on compression and i set the rebound up so the tire stays put when i compress and release at static. sag seems to be a issue but maybe thats cuz its not so close to bein broken in. what that means is it doesnt have much right now, maybe 20% at best.

dt sent along a 500lb spring and im runnin 75psi of boost, close to full open (fast) on rebound, pp in the middle and the same for bottom out. sag at 30%. i read this somewhere in here the other day and went for it.

am i remotely close? im under a foot of snow so theres not alot i can do myself. would be sweet to get some baseline ideas for setup. this setup passes the basement test for all you midwesterners btw.

on further inspection, and a attempt to get this back up top and recieve some help, i did more research and mesuring. seems i can lose a spring and add some air to a leg. any opinions on which leg to de-spring or is there a diff? this may give back the sag needed and plush it up a bit. also i seem to only have 147mm of stansion tube showing on a 150mm fork. curious. is this part of the break in on a 66 rc or do i have a problem here? the fork is yet to be ridden (2' of snow and no front hub to fit) so theres no mis-use or damage. some help here would be kinda cool. thanx.

Well I can tell you what I did on my 06 z-1 light and DHX coil. These are on a Foes FXR, my weight is the same as you and my DHX also has a 500 lb spring. I have the bottom out air set at 100 psi. I started with it at 120 with no clicks on the propedal and then adjusted it until I was getting almost full travel on some bigger hits. I then put the propedal 3 to 4 clicks in to control bob. My sag on the DHX is set at 25%.

I have my Z-1 set at 130mm for normal riding. It was rough feeling initially but is starting to break in. I did notice before I had any riding time on it that it smoothed the feel up if I turned it upside down to get the oil moving. As far as sag I run 20 psi to get 1" of sag. Not sure if the 66 has heavier springs but you might wait to take one out until you get a few rides on it. Compression is set at 2 clicks from full fast and I'm not sure where rebound is in the range but it feels good.

This is probably of no help since I have a different bike and fork but you might try the Turner forum also.

been there, alot really as i now own 3, but not alot of luck. other than what ive found on searches, this is the first good advice ive yet to get. thanx man. sounds like im close on the back half but still have some work to do on the front end. funny you mention turnin it upsidedown as most everything else ive read says to do the opposite to get it back on line after its been anything but upright. maybe you know somethin the others dont. im up for anything.
