I just posted the Spring 2005 newsletter. Take a look!

http://www.barta-nv.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/trailbites7.pdf

I'm also looking for Las Vegas Area photos and ride reports. I'd like to add a locals page for adventures, new (legal) trails, and photos from riders in and around Las Vegas. I'm getting to the point I can't think of anything else to write in the Newsletter. There is no money in it -- but you can get all the glory that accompanies having your ride reports and photos published in such a well known publication. ;)

Eric, could you write something for me about the trail possibilities in the Lava Butte area -- and e-mail me some photos. Maybe we can drum up a little mountain biker interest in the area.

Feel free to use any of the photos in my gallery. They're all from earlier in March (when there was running water out at Cottonwood). I'll try to take some more soon :) http://gallery.mtbr.com/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=239680

As for ride reports... my rides are usually fairly uninteresting to anyone but me, and consist of 'crawled along at 4mph for a bit, walked up a hill I couldn't quite manage, tried to not crash'. I do have an idea though... if anyone's an amateur naturalist (rather than a naturist  ), it'd be cool to have an article on the types of plants and animals we can expect to see out on the trails during various seasons. I often see birds and plants that I have no clue about, so it'd be nice to be able to recognise them.

- Jen.

Edit: For some reason I can't see the newsletter on my work computer. I'll try from my home computer later. Anyone else having problems?

Nice newsletter, Matt

I enjoyed it even though I'm not in Vegas.

There's a pretty good chance I'll be moving there this fall. I'd like to help you guys out if that's the case. I should know by Oct./Nov.

Keep up the good work!

Strange PDF issues

It works fine for some people (me at home) and doesn't work for some people (me at work). For some reason CorelDraw has issues when it creates PDF files. Anyway, I posted a new TrailBites on the BARTA website (TrailBites 7a). Try it out. I won't know until tomorrow if it worked any better than the first one.

PS. Looks like you guys had a blast on the Hurricane Rim Trail and SlickRock Swamp. Man, I've been stuck around here for months. I'm hoping I'll get a chance in the next couple of weeks to head up to Gooesberry or Littlecreek Mesa.

HERE IS THE LINK FOR THE NEW FILE:

Today I tested at work and both files work just fine -- yesterday it didn't work! ;) http://forums.mtbr.com/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=862832#

hmm

Oh well. still doesn't work at home or work. Maybe it's the update patch# of acrobat that's the problem. Both of mine are current.
