Barrington?????

My buddy at work has a Barrington mountain bike. I have never heard of these before. He wants to turn it into a single speed commuter. Here's my question, who is Barrington? are they cheapo pieces of poo or are they decent? Is it worth doing the conversion? He's an older guy so I'm doing the research for him. Any info would help at all. I've tried searching but I only got a grainy pic at one on craigslist. If anyone has info or pics on other small bike companies post some pics, i like rare bikes. :thumbsup:
