About 4mos ago I just purchased a new mtb bike 06' Klein Attitude and stripped it and spec'd it out to my liking. Now after 3mos of sidewalk riding (lakefront trails, city riding) I want to go DIRT! I need challenges I want to go single tracking, nothing to difficult just yet, I live in Chicago does anyone have any good recommendations? Look in My Gallery to see my new steed.). When I ride I try and inqiure as to were the real trails are with other bikers, but all its seems to boil down to is rich guys on nice bikes with no clue to MTB-ing. I need to ride and when I ride I ride HARD and FAST and I don't look back. So I am writing as to find some direction on getting back on some serious trails.....HELLLLLLLLLP BIKER DOWN!!!!!!!!! LOL

By the way this is a pic of my new steed.......Her name is FLO because she can GOOOOOOOOO......................

Hey Ride Or Die,

Welcome back to "saddle-dom"!! That's great that you live in Chicago! I work in the city, but live just across the IL/WI border.

A few great places to ride are Palos, which I usually take I-294 South to 95th Street West. A bit past LaGrange Rd, the road will split to the left, or you could continue straight. Take the left split, and park in the second or third parking lot on the left, or in the last lot on the right. Absolute blast to ride here.

Also, you can check out Deer Grove in Palatine. This place used to be better before they dug it up and put crushed limestone everywhere, but it's still fun. It's also very fun east of Quentin Rd. The trails are on Quentin Road, just south of Lake Cook Rd.

There's more trails on http://www.cambr.org but these will get you started.

Hope this helps!

I grew up in Chicago. What a $hithole. You need to head out west, man. Out here, finding mountains and dirt to ride on is like finding crackwhores on the south side in the CHA projects. :p
I wouldn't exactly call Chicago in general a $h!th0le, but the south side, well, I catch your drift.

So you mean those mountains out west wash your windshield at every stoplight even though you don't want them to?:p

Hey Ride Or Die...

If you don't mind travelling, you could also venture just across the IL/WI border for Petrifying Springs and Kettle Moraine. A bit further will get you to Blue Mounds, which I REALLY want to check out pretty soon.
