I went straight up over the rock. It takes some momentum which is hard to gain, because it is very steep right before the rock. If you have been on it, you know it is steeper than the picture makes it out to be.

I tried the rut on previous tries, but you have to turn too hard while really torquing the pedals. I even tried going left of the very big rock that is just in the picture, but behind it is a narrow squeeze spot that traps your pedals.

So I started at the bottom of the hill to the right, swung out a bit to the left and got what momentum I could before bringing it to the right, and lunging up onto the rock. I kept on going and went on around and up the next few obstacle while I had momentum. Then I walked back down to take a pic, because I was so pleased to have finally made it.

That is my girlfriends bike sitting just in the picture there.

I was out at 50 Year last week too. First time there and it was pretty darn nice. Drove down from Phoenix, so I put a good 27 miles in trying to get as much in as I could. It made it onto the list for further exploration. Need to hit 50 Year past the gate and Baby Jesus and such.

Great panos Dag, I want in the next time you go!!
Thanks! You're in for next time. Pretty good stuff. Fast and rolly, then the 50 year heads up into the boulders and it gets pretty cool. Fun climbing through there, anxious to see some more. The chutes are cool, but over fast. 50 Year down into Catalina State park gets baby-heady, but that's the worst of it. I would be a nice double day with the OP track.
