The physics are simple, ask any skateboarder or snowboarder about quarter-pipes and half-pipes.

Building a quarter-pipe into a mountain bike trail is still pretty innovative though, gotta hand 'em that.

The conditions are perfect. Tires would just hook up on the tacky hardpack. Those guys put a lot of work into that trail.
