I ordered some Avid Speed Dial 7 levers from price point, and they arrived yesterday. I ordered them in Grey/Black, and a sticker on the top of the box said Grey/Black. But the side of the box said Mica/Black, with a picture of the levers in Mica. They looked nothing like the pictures I've seen online. They had no live action view ports to see where the speed dial is. No where on the lever did it say "Speed Dial" or have the # 7. I found one auction out of many on eBay of Speed Dial 7's that had a picture of what mine looked like.

They look just like Avid Flat Rate Pull levers, only they have the speed dial lever. Here is what I expected them to look like.

I sent the levers back to Price Point to exchange them for the correct color. I'm wondering though, was I sent the completely wrong levers or does Avid make Speed Dial 7's without live action view ports?

You can go to Avidbike.com and check out their line up. I don't think that's an SD7 lever though, as i have some and they actually say it on them and have the view ports. Hope you get the right ones, they kick ass!

I believe you've got the new versions of the sd7s. The website pictures haven't yet been updated to reflect this change, but those are sd7s I'm fairly sure. Shouldn't be much of a practical difference, they're just going for a cleaner look I guess. Looks lighter too.

Yeah, what Joel said!

The outgoing SD 5 levers are essentially SD 7 levers without viewports.

What you've got pictured there is in the mold of the new 'FR' series levers, but Avid is sticking with the 'SD' designation for the Speed Dial-equiped versions. The 'FR-1' has been out for about a year, and there is an 'FR-5' now that looks identical (neither has Speed Dial). I'm guessing the one in your picture is the new SD-7, which doesn't feature view ports. There is also a new SD-SL (superlight?) which also does away with the view ports.

FR-1

If you want my opinion, the view port is pretty useless.

I hope the new SD 7's still come in Grey/Black like I wanted them. If Mica/Black is the only way they make them I'm going to be pist. Not only will they not match my Single Digit 7 brakes, but I'll have wasted time returning them for nothing....
