We just did a tune up on my brothers bike and installed some 2006 juicy 7 to replace his hayes hfx-9's, and the brake stopping power is lacking. The front, better than the rear; but both levers have to nearly touch the grip for any stopping power. His hayes HFX-9's out of the box were very sensitive to the touch, i.e. the slighest pull on the lever meant extreme stopping power, no where near the grips. They came pre-bled from Jenson is there a way to fix the problem? Or are they faulty brakes and need to be returned? The lever pull are as bad as the hayes with air in the lines!!! Thanks for the help everyone!

Without actually seeing and feeling the brakes, I'd say they are not bled well.

Mine were installed and worked great right out of the box. Firm lever feel and lots of stopping power. Is it possible the "star" needs to be turned so the brakes engage further out?
