I went for a ride the other day and everything was fine, but now my rear brake lever is very hard to pull and when the lever is released it very gradually returns to the full forward position. When I release the lever the brake pad releases immediately which makes me think that the problem is isolated to the lever. Any ideas?

thanks

could be lots of things so best to start with the simplest fixes first and work your way towards the more complex. remove wheel and remove pads/clip. retract pistons and then pull lever and make sure your getting good action from your pistons. Clean them if necessary. If one/both sticking, you will have to investigate further. May just need massaged or possibly replace piston seal. When was the last time you bled the brake fluid? If more than a year ago, do a full bleed. At some point you may want to consider replace as those brakes are pretty economical and may not be worth the trouble of tearing apart the lever mechanism for repair.
