Im almost in the market for some new brakes and was looking into the Elixirs. I just want to know what the difference is between the Elixir CR and the Elixir R other then the Carbon? Is there going to be a significant power difference or can I save some coin by going with the Elixir R?

the elixir cr has reach as well as pad contact point adjustment, you don't have to get elixir CRs with the carbon levers, although that is an option.

you could set your levers up to have lots of free throw but start way far from the bar, or to be really close to the bar but have the pads engage really quickly.

The elixirs are a totally awesome brake. I actually have both the CR and the R version. believe it or not, the "R" is much cheaper, and a few grams lighter, and they share the same power. If I were buying a new set again, i would buy the "R" version and save the money, the elixir is a sweet brake. Both are lighter and more powerful than all brakes in their juicy line, so I am still confused as to why they keep producing the Juicys.....
