Ok so i am quite new to the world of biking but i thought i'd treat myself to some avid bb7's for my trip to wales in a few months. I have had no problem sorting out the front brake...but am having a problem with the back brake....the IS adapters provided don't seem to fit my bike...their too big...so the holes don't align...anyone else had this problem and could help?

thanks

oh and heres a picture

Links not working.

Bet it is a bike "fail" and your frame does not have IS disc brake mounts.

yeah i was afraid it was a bike fail...dammit.....its bizarre cause above the mount their are brake cable slots going down the tail to the hub...so it looks like it should take disc brakes..i dunno...is their any sort of adapter i can get?

Contact Marin. They may have a bolt-on disc mount. It is a no-go as is.

Shiggy's right, Marin required a proprietary adapter for frames of that vintage. I believe they called it a Disco-Tech adapter. Here's my wife's 2001 Mount Vision with something very similar looking (the silver plate behind the black thing):

[And just FYI, it was crappy stamped steel, something you could fairly easily make at home with a drill and a Dremel.]

Nice hook-up Nate ;)

(haven't seen ya post in a while :skep:)
Yeah, the bikes and MTBR just haven't been part of my life for a while -- busy building a house, new daddy, working nights and got an eff'd-up knee. Kinda sucks, but things ought to turn around soon.
