My friend has a Avalanche DHS rear shock he is selling and i can get it really cheap since it is on a frame that he broke and he has no use for it. He says they need to be rebuilt or serviced every six months and it is pretty costly is this true? also what are some opinions for this shock?

Well, avalanche makes some great shocks. They need to be recahrged with nitrogen every now and again, I think it costs about $50. I say go ahead and buy it if you can get it cheap, just make sure its the right size and that it will fit on your bike.

it's only about $50-$60 and very worth it. craig (at avalanche) will valve it for you, your riding style and your bike. i have had several different manufacturers shocks and have had numerous problems with each. with the avy, it's just set and forget.....
