i've been out of commission travelling for work the past couple of months but would love to get another couple of bigger rides in before the rains really hit. i know you guys went up to auburn a couple of weeks ago but it looked like so much fun i thought i'd see if anyone was interested in another shot at it...

i'm a b rider so am looking for other slower guys/gals alongside any speed burners who want to come as well. thinking of something in the 25-30 mile range.

meet around 930 at confluence or other suitable riding off point?? i'm very open to suggestions on ride details but first want to see if anyone else is interested.

I'm in so you know it will be slow. 9:30 at the Confluence is about right. Here is a map of what we did two weeks ago. It was about 25 miles so I wouldn't mind adding a couple more miles if someone knows what else to add. Don't forget to post on the NorCal calendar.
just put it in the calendar...that's great, didn't even know there was one. let's see who else shows up. right now weather looks ok all week, not warm but not rainy.

hope i can handle it....i've spent most of my time on airplanes the last month. i'm going to try to get into the briones hills thursday to see how bad i'll do.

thx!
Yeah, I'm pretty hard to keep up with. (tongue inserted firmly in cheek)
I spent the Yuba ride Sunday waiting for the slackers to catch up. I even had to
invent a mechanical so that they wouldn't feel so bad about holding me up.

-Advice-
When replacing the sram power link on a narrow dropoff singletrack covered in
wet leaves, DO NOT let the derailleur tension fling half the link into never never
land

So *how* slow will you go...?

So if I sabotage your braking system (say adjust it so that
your brakes are permanently on - or don't work at all, like I did
earlier this week.. uh.. I mean...er...or perhaps fix your derailleur
so that the chain won't go into granny gear - the way you have
mine in the past), how slow will you go?

(What are all those other gears for anyway?)

I may be up for riding Auburn again. I'd like to check out the Mossy Rock and Manzanita trails that we missed last time. 0gre has a good description of these trails (and then rest of the ride), at http://ogrehut.net/trails.php/Sierra-Central/Auburn30

My suggestion, if at least the folks that have expressed interest, show:

A ride
What Dave suggests, but if you want to do Manzanita, etc, you may want to start at the top, Russell Rd in Auburn, and then join up at the Confluence with the

B ride (9:30ish)
Which is what I am planning on doing. This will start at the Confluence and then up the middle fork (confluence trail) and follow this up, crossing the Mammoth Bar road and continue up to Old Foresthill road. Here we would meet the

C ride, (10:00ish)
those that have expressed a wish to do only part of the ride due to time constraints, etc.
From here we continue up the middle fork on a combination of single track/fire roads/mobike trails (Mammoth OHV is usually closed to motorized traffic on winter saturdays). This a slightly less known variation on the "normal" confluence-connector trail-Foresthill loop route that hooks up with the bottom of the south side of the FH loop. Do the FH loop, connector trail, then the C ride drops back down to their start point and the rest do Culvert to Confluence to cars. We can probably shuttle anyone from the A ride back up to Russell Road if they are not up to the climb back up Stagecoach.

can we see a show of hands....

i'm not sure how many are riding saturday or how many variants of the ride we'll need. so far i know myself, wherewolf and unclemtb for sure. we (well at least wherewolf and i) will be doing what sounds like the 'b' ride above (maybe at a c pace however). the intent is to do the same route as a few weeks ago with maybe a few miles extra thrown in if we figure out where to add.

it sounds like pffft, elsietee and 8trak might be in as well but not sure of your speed or intended route.

steve, tim and i will be at confluence at 930. steve will have his black nissan pickup (have you washed it since this past april??) and i will have a grey bmw. if you don't see the cars we'll meet at the lovely 'cuarto de baño portable'.

if we don't have too many riders we should probably keep things simple in terms of groups. i will follow steve around as i always do.... ;)

weather sounds good--cold but nice.

I'm in... see you at the confluence at 9:30 and I'll be riding with whoever is there, no matter the pace/route/etc. My home base for the weekend will be Truckee, looking forward to the ride on Saturday and some snowboarding (with what little snow there is) on Sunday.

I am going to be there at ~930. I'll watch for you all. There are a few side
routes and variations that make for a nice ride and photo ops as needed. It sounds like
Elsie is gonna meet us at 10 at the top of the Confluence climb, and join in then.
Her pace tends to vary with the weather, month, song playing on her ipod, etc but I have a
feeling Saturday is planned as more of a stroll than as a hammer for her. Sounds like
I am the nearest to a "local" so hows about we all hook up at 930, ride up and meet
Elsie, and then see what happens? I know she wants to see the side route I listed
above, so iffn anyone wants to come along (highly recommended -grin- ), great! There
are also a few out and back spurs along the river that might be nice to see(??). If not,
I am pretty sure at least Steve and Tim can find their way wit out me.

I will be in my blue sube baja

D Ride?

And since I know the trails (except the side route), I can always
bail and convert my ride to a "D Ride" if I'm having an off day.
Depends how many wet leaves are out there, lurking.
