Today (12/17) I had a great ride at Auburn with Cohenfive, 8Trak, Pffft and for part of the way Elsietee. The weather was a bit cool and humid, and it rained a bit on us toward the end of the ride. Cohenfive, 8Trak and myself went up Clemetine and then down Shortcut II Trail, a very nice narrow singletrack, and we met Pfft and Elsietee across Old Foresthill Road. We then took the Mammoth Bar OHV trails, which involved a lot of climbing, out to Foresthill Divide. We went counterclockwise around Foresthill Divide, then the Connector to the Culvert Trail and back via the Confluence. The conditions were terrible for picture taking, below are most of what I got. Sorry I missed Elsietee, but I didn't know she wasn't going to be around for very long. Here is a link to a map, the Mammoth Bar OHV trail is #21 on the map.

Nice pics!

Conditions actually look pretty good. Much nicer than the deluge I experienced at China Camp today. Needed my swim fins for that one.

Ahhh, Confluence...such a fun trail.

nice ride today gang, thought i was gonna die for about half an hour on the climb but i was able to rally...the weather mostly held for us, just a bit of drizzle in a few spots, but the drive home was no picnic...took me 2 1/2 hrs to lafayette as opposed to the hr 40 mins on the way up. my bike sure got wet up on the roof!! i'll see if i got any useful pix and will post later today.

looks like i'll be on the road bike given the deluge we are getting in the east bay right now..:(

thanks again, it was a real mid-december treat and enjoyed the company.

pffft--nice nomad!!!!!!!!!!

did you check out those cute booties 8trak was wearing, very stylin'.... :D

...it was like he had shrink-wrapped feet!

Did you notice how pffft sabotaged my tyre just before that steep
climb, thereby forcing me to walk up it so I wouldn't embarrass him
by passing him? [snort]

I had fun! (albeit shorter [but dryer] fun than everyone else)

Great ride, and I'm glad we got in another long one before the rains start in earnest. I have some photos to share, but unfortunately my camera is still up in Tahoe (while I'm back in the Bay Area). I'll be sure to update this thread in a week or so when I get it back.

dave, enjoy the snow--talk about great timing....getting in the ride in auburn, then leaving just as it starts raining and getting dumped up in tahoe. i'm still thinking of taking wednesday or thursday off to go up to sugarbowl with my son if it doesn't rain up there...

And as a bonus, here's a shot of the confluence from this past Saturday, just after the big rain storm swept through the area:

Omg!!!

that's a really nasty picture of the american river boiling up.....wonder if it's even worse now. i tell you, in the bay area we really got smacked--i've never seen so many slides in lafayette in the 8 years we've been here. great pix added, wouldn't mind a couple of the originals.

until we ride again....

Crazy!

I was down there on Saturday morning with the GF, her son and my daughter. I was stunned at just how much water was down there and how close to the tops of the bridges By yesterday the river had dropped down about 30ft! and the banks were littered with trees. I am going to steal this photo for a repost....see...."meet me at the confluence"
