BM WORKDAY THIS SUNDAY, 10-2, MEET AT EAST TOWER

The 12 hr at Blue Mound is nearing, and we have one more short chunk of
trail to build in preparation. It seems that last year, the consensus was
that "there ain't enough climbs" - so let's get together and add one more
singletrack piece.

>From the pool, to the east tower at the top of the hill.

Our friendly neighborhood park superintendent Karl has approved the flag
line, now we need to head out there and clear the trail. Not as much rock
work as Holy Schist, this will involve clearing vegitation and bench
cutting a steep slope - and mowing a path beside the beebalm and
black-eyed susan.

Workday will run from 10am to 2pm with a ride after, weather permitting.
As always, bring your own water and munchies, wear sturdy shoes (no
sandals!), and workgloves are recommended. for this segment, I recommend
long pants, too.

We'll start working at the top and end up at the pool. If a goodly number
of volunteers attend, this will be a short workday - bring a friend.

Consider bringing your swimsuit as well - the pool should be open, and
current forcast is for a beautiful day. Work hard/play hard at Blue
Mound.

Yes, you will be able to find the tower. After leaving the visitor station and buying your park pass ( $5-6?) and trail pass ( $4) you will drive straight and stay left where the road kinda splits. A right there will take you to the swimming pool and the beginning of the bike trail. So stay left and you should see the tower and parking on the right.
Terrain is semi tight rolling singletrack with some smaller hills and lots of rocks. Real fun stuff.

The towers (E and W) are at the top of the park. The trails start at the swim pool parking lot, and work will be near the pool.

I suggest you consider annual passes for trail and parks with a few months of riding still available. Same passes are needed for all of the state parks, state forests and state trails.

Park staff usually knows where we're working, and somebody working often carries a 2 way FRS radio with channel 411.

Bring water, food, bike and/or swim wear too!
