Eight from Arizona (BrianC, Vato, Carie, Sonia, and I from Phx and Aaron, Tom, and John from Tucson) headed west to join folks from NM and TX for a mini MTBR gathering in the Gila Nat Forest north of Silver City. Elevation is similar to Flag and riding is a mix of fireroads and singletrack. We just scratched the surface of the potential of this area. Seems that the area lacks the local manpower to develop what could be an amazing set of trails. Not much to Silver City - a few bike shops, a nice coffee shop, some grub joints. We had rain showers every afternoon (the monsoons that we so desperately need in AZ are in full swing in NM) but the rain would subside and the evenings and the days were dry. All in all, it was really good time despite Saturday's extreme hike-a-bike on a little used trail called Tadpole Ridge that left us all bloody and exhausted.

Wow! Some pretty nice areas. Remindes me of the Blue Wilderness area here in Az. My fave pics are of Katie, and that butterfly on the Bee Balm plant!

Ha! Thanks for reposting that shot for the AZ crowd. All that eating right, bowflex, and riding my bike is finally paying off. I always suspected there were muscles in there somewhere :D .
