Outdated? Yes. Obsolete? No. They work perfectly fine in 95% of situations. In fact, I'd much rather have a set of v brakes than some of the junky disc brakes out there, like the avid elixrs that my current bike came with
Crappy disc brakes can't even come close to even Shimano acera v brakes. Ya they are out dated, disc has been around a long time. Far from obsolete though. Only time v brakes get risky as really wet/muddy conditions. Beyond that they are insanely reliable, set and forget, minimal maintenance brakes. If u a bike you want or already have has them DONT WORRY THEY WILL STOP YOU AS GOOD AS MOST DISC BRAKES, GO RIDE!!!
