Arch Rival VS Arch Supreme

Is the arch supreme that much better? I am looking for a brake set for my new bike. Is the Arch supreme worth the extra money? I dont care about weight as much as quality. Should I consider the avid ultimate v? What is the strongest V brake out there? I dont want to run discs.

The arches are far superior....

...in workmanship, durability, resistance to slop and weight. No other rim brake comes close in feel and modulation. They also aren't made anymore and will run you as much as $200 per brake used ( assuming the seller knows what he's selling:))

Good luck

The Arch Supreme really was the best Vee brake, ever, but the Ultimates are also very, very good, are less susceptible to death by "breakage of parts for which there are not many spares" and you can do both ends of your bike with them for less than one wheel's worth of Supremes. Oh, and they're lighter.

We have two bikes with Supremes on them, they really are excellent brakes. Get the Ultimates and be happy. If I were building a new bike to get top-quality vees on it, that's what I'd do.
all reports seem to suggest that arch supremes are/were excellent, but I hate the arch-rivals (funnily enough), I've never been able to tweak decent power out of them, they are mushy and have slop out of the box. I much prefer non-parralel push brakes, the sd7s are very good, as are of course the ultimates.

Eh, I have a friend with a bike set up with rivals and he has 5 sets of supremes. He says the quality of the supremes is better but stopping power is pretty much the same. I guess I just wanted a second opinion. Maybe ultimates are the way to go. Unless I can find some vueltas... Like anyone can vind them, ha!
