Pisgah is one of those must ride places. It isn't that far from here, but I almost never go. I like to think that I'm just too busy, that getting a weekend pass is too hard, or that my bike isn't set up for it. But the real reason is that mountains are unforgiving and I usually ride alone. The cost of ****upage is higher than I'm willing to pay. Sometimes you've got to take a little risk though. Just to feel alive.

He-man!

If you are riding Pisgah on a singlespeed, then you are a strong dude! No shame in walking there for sure. I just sold my gearie to raise $ for a Rig, so I'll be in that boat soon.
I'm only ~1.5 hrs away, and haven't been in over a year. It's just too hard with kids and it ends up being an almost all day trip.

Was that this weekend? I can understand no leaves on the trees and snowing here......Looks like a nice outing nonetheless.
Yup, that was yesterday. I maxed out at a whopping ;) 4600 feet, but there was a scattering of snow on the north-facing slopes most of the way up.

Just a question of picking the right gear. And walking has never bothered me anyhow. :)

Hey Bikecop, are you in the Knoxville area? I'll be there in 2-3 weeks from Delaware to Maryville actually, looking to give my Rig a workout and to find the local info on where to ride. Can help me out!?
With the trails like that in the area and the "Dragon" (for the cooper s) just a few mins from the new house this move is looking better and better!

I'm in Greenville, SC. don't know much about Knoxville unfortunately. But you are within driving distance of pisgah, tsali, dupont, etc in NC. Also some nice trails in N Georgia and I'm sure in TN as well.

My rig is due in mid-May. I think Tsali would be ideal for it. nice trails, not terribly steep.

Hey that's cool. Glad to hear that I'm moving into some good riding. After riding around looking for our new home it seems that the road riding around the area will be some of the best I've ever seen. The Foothills parkway will be about a 15 min ride away and looks to be able to give me quite a hill workout! Our area here is VERY good considering it's so populated and urban. The singletrack here is really quite outstanding and very singlspeed friendly. Most trails are rolly but our climbs are short and very steep. The road riding is as safe as any highway in Iraq.
If you don't mind me asking, are you a Bikecop? Or is that just a "tag".If you prefer you can e-mail me.
Thanks, al
