Smith Creek is probably getting pretty brushy, but it's still a cool place to be, lots of big trees downed from the blast. Gotta check it out at least once.numbuhio said:

I began from Ape Canyon and looped across to Smith Creek trailhead and back around. Shorter drive.
During the ride I made a small error trying to cross Lava Canyon\Creek. I went up or right instead of down into the creek. By going up and right I ended up at a junction after about 1/4 -1/2 mile where there was a metal bridge which I used to cross Lava Canyon\Creek. It wasnt a big deal and only added a short distance to the ride. However I thought I would mention it so that others know they can also go that way instead of boulder hopping across the creek drainage.
First time I have seen spirit lake.
Smith Creek is only good for a workout. Broke my chain 2 times.
Saw 3 folks starting up Windy Ridge this morning on bikes.
