I have a Rocky Mountain Element C50 in bound, and the standard wheelset seem meh. It seems as though the super light C90 (24.5lbs) bike benefits from its major weight savings in the wheels from what I can tell. 1.4lbs in the components, and 1.6lbs in the wheelset when you do the breakdown of components vs the C50 I have coming (27.5lbs). So... I am thinking I am going to get some super 1600g wheels for it to make up some of the difference. I was originally looking at the Roval Control Carbon 29 wheelset (1450g) @ $1350, and they come with DT350 hubs, then I came across the Hunt wheels. They are $624 shipped and weigh 1517g... so only 67g more for less than half the price. All the reviews on these tend to be older. I plan on running a little more aggressive front tire and a cushcore XC in the rear to keep the wheels together a little better. Any thoughts, or other sub $1400 wheel sets worth looking at? Thanks!

Check out the Noble 32s. I have mine built with Onyx vesper hubs and I love them. Roughly in the same price range. I ran them on my Spur and now on my new Blur. Bonus they have lifetime warranty. Good luck
Will check it! Reason why you went from Spur to Blur?

3 reasons: 1st I bought a medium and should of bought a small. In the trails I ride the Blur TR for me is a better match. We don't have any long down hills and they are mostly tight corners with quick ups and downs. The Blur's geometry and lower weight is better match for the races/rides I like.
That being said I loved the Spur. It was an amazing bike and whenever I rode it in CO it was a perfect fit, but here TX I like the Blur better.

Interesting, but that makes total sense. I live in Denver, so my riding is normally 45 minute climb followed by fast chunky descent.

Why would you go down to a 24mm internal rim on a 130mm bike? Most 2.3-2.5 tires are designed around 30mm rims. If you want a 1600 gram set of wheels get some BTLOS wheels built with DT Swiss hubs. If it were me, I would not worry about 1600 gram v 1900 gram wheels unless I was racing and competitive in my class.

I’ve got these Hunt wheels (25mm ID) and they’ve been fine. Even though stated weight was something like 1650g mine came in at 1705g and their response was that their weights don’t include the rim tape (that they came with).

I found some tires didn’t work with the narrower width, like the Rekon. So went with non-WT tires. I also managed to snake bite a tyre that would not seal but fixed with bacon strips. Rim was fine though. So needed more pressure than I used to get away with on my 29mm ID heavy wheels.

I also just got the C-50 but haven’t tried the hunts on it yet. I’m finding the 27mm runs better TBH. What do you think the stock wheels weigh?

The stock wheels are 1959g with tape and valves, so 1900g without or so I would imagine. I was also looking at the Roval Carbon 29 wheels, they are like 1450g and 29mm internal.
