I'm heading out to SoCal tomorrow to visit family and go to the Coachella Valley Music Festival. Anyone else going? I'm taking a week off to visit family but I've got some time to kill during the day. I'm bringing the bike and probably ride during the day on Friday, Monday and Thursday. I'll be around Palmdale Friday and in West LA for next week. I checked the trail reviews. Bunches around LA but didn't see much around Palmdale. Malibu sounded good. Any "must rides" suggestions? Technical but not freeride if that helps narrow it down. Thanks.

Thanks. Should be another great lineup. I went last year too. It was 110 in the shade. It's supposed to much cooler this year, normal 80s. It's really a shame with so much going on, you can't catch all the shows. We missed some great bands last year and I'm sure it will be the same this year.

Anyway, I'm just packing up here. Am I forgetting anything? Oh yeah, clothes might be nice. A carry on will have to do because these are my check bags.

Fortunately, It looks like I'll finally get to see them again (since 1992) this summer at Red Rocks. I only wish they were playing the double date rarity show... But I'll take what I can get.

Devils & Dolls

check out Devil's Punchbowl ride not far from Palmdale, near the town of Pearblossom. Find the nature center, park and climb from there. Scenic & smooth singletrack.

Catch the Dresden Dolls for me! I'll be kicking off my road trip this weekend otherwise I'd be there wit'cha.

they have a very extensive trail database. More than likely, you'll be driving to any trail heads. Where in West LA will you be? From my desk I'm looking out the window at the WeHo, Beverly Hills area. I'd say we could meet for a ride, but my only functioning bike right now is my road bike. If you need any local info, let me know.

Well that sucks, I just looked and you are right...Damn..I paid for will call tix too! I guess they are refunding them.

I WAS SO looking forward to them...wonder what's up? Not popular enough??

I guess Trail of the dead gets back on my list and I'm missing Kings of Leon when in Fruita!

EDIT: So i went to doves.net and got the scoop. Guess some throat issue that needs two weeks. Darn, if the fox concert was just one week later, maybe. Least they might reschedule.

I usually just stream music and see what's playing in the small gigs in boulder. When I find something I like, I see em. I don't get that caught up in the details so I'm usually the last to know.

But the Doves are currently high on my fav band list. Seems a real treat to see em at the fox. Moby is here on Sat.

It's a good site for news, tour dates, etc, and you seem to mention bands listed on Pitchfork pretty regularly. I ususally hear it there first. The Doves sound great on disc, I meant to get tickets and now it's a bit of a moot point. I hear in their recordings a big opportunity for a great live show.

Saw Moby years ago at his "height" at Red Rocks. This year I've got The Roots/Wilco abd the Pixies at RR.
