gumby- i actually prefer windham to hunter. i don't think it's flat at all but what i really like about it is that it's much less crowded on the weekends.gumby said:Phat, would love to hook up. Isn't windham kind of flat? Not been but....
Actually I would be happy doing anything if I can swing it.

HEY Phat, Windham is pretty flat for a two hour drive....ever think about elk mountain in Pa. I heard its pretty close to hunter as far as vertical....And as long as you mention mountain biking (which I just did) its okay to talk skiing in this forumphatbiker said:... i just thought i'd do a little forum poaching. hey at least i'm not trying to start PAR(Phat Action Riders)!.. just kidding.. i'm trying hard to stay out of that one... anyway, maybe a night ride this week?

I could give Gumby a ride , no problem there.phatbiker said:gumby-
yes, it is a zoo on weekends. that's why bobw and i are talking about going up to windham (20 minutes further). if you need a ride or something let me know and we might be able to work something out. it would be good to meet you finally.

It's true. I don't know any of the hills here. Since moving to the US of A nearly 2 yrs ago I have only clocked up a killington trip and my wednesday hunter bus trips.phatbiker said:ok my fellow mountain bikers, can we get a consensus? i'm okay with elk. let's vote.

I would love to play water polo with all of you but I will be racing in the snow in Providence for cyclocross nationals. Hopefully you all will be playing water polo on a different weekend.gumby said:It's true. I don't know any of the hills here. Just checked the elk sight, they open thursday, hard to tell what will be on offer.
I also need to work out how I am going to get there and if it's possible? so my vote may not count
Where ever has the most terrain open with decent coverage and no crowds.....
Does that exist??
How about Shawnee, Poconos I think its only an 1 hour and 30 minutes from the city. I even think they have a half pipe there. Probaly a small of mountain but its close.ytc100 said:In my humble opinion Windham gets as crowded as Hunter and is far worse at handling the crowds. Plus the terrain at Windham is pretty mellow. I've been at Hunter every weekend since opening and it has not gotten very crowded yet. Although with the great conditions and consumer demo weekend this weekend who knows?
If you're looking for a decent alternative to Hunter in the catskills I'd go to Belleayre.
