I have a 2007 Jamis Exile 29er that I would like to run geared - 1X8 or 1X9. Can anyone tell me how to run the cable on the toptube. It has these little 'bases' on them and looks like something would snap on them.

Run full-length housing and zip-tie the cables to those "bases."

You need to run full housing and zip tie the housing to the stops provided. I have mine set up 3x9 and it works great.

There are little snap in plastic things that are designed to go with those cable saddles. In a quick look at QBPs website, I was unable to find them, however. Zip-ties are much easier to find and they look about the same as the plastic pieces.

Why the resistance to zip-ties?
