There were 2 folks from my home town that did it and both finished, including a top 20 in the women’s race. Even if I had the endurance, that ride doesn’t sound like much fun. I’m good for about 6 hours and then fun turns to work.
Sounds like a ride I'd like to do once before I'm too old to pedal. 200 miles in a day is nuts and the roads look rugged. Gravel riding around here has more vertical per mile but the DK course looks like a different set of challenges - head winds, direct sun and rough roads. I'm also curious if the DK involves any singletrack.
No singletrack. There were a few very low maintenance roads, maybe one mud bog that I walked around, several smaller creek crossings. But nothing that would be considered singletrack.
Thanks for that. I only made it about a 1/4 way through before my browser unexpectedly shut down.. Will have to finish it later, what a read!
My plans for this year were to complete a 100 mile gravel ride. I'd hoped to ride the Wild Horse but took ill. There's still the Crooked Gravel in August. I'm shooting for that one.
