Thinking about adding a full suspension bike to the garage and I've been pleased with my Mary SS so I'm looking at both the Shift R5 and Sonix as possible new rides. I have some concerns on the sizing of these frames. I think the 21" Shift would be fine (I'm 6'4") but I'm interested in the Sonix as well.

I like the single pivot Shift frame design but I need to make sure Marz, can get me a stiffer spring for the fork before I would consider buying it (hopped on an 18" at the shop and sagged the fork about 50-60%).

I had seen a 20" Sonix at the local shop a few months ago but it looked too small and I really wasn't in the market at the time so I didn't try it on. Now that I'm in the market and looking of course that bike has been sold. Looking at the geometry chart everything looks almost the same for the 21" Shift and the 20" Sonix.

So the point of this post.. Is anyone in the 6'4" 210lbs size range riding either of these frames? Can you offer any input on the fit, ride, etc? I found a great review on the Sonix but the guy was 125lbs so that doesn't really tell me much about how it works for, and fits, a larger rider.

I'm 6'0 and have a size 18 sonix, it fits me fine.
Have you checked out the new sonix 650b? It might
feel a little bit larger with the bigger tires. I wish I had one.

That is helpful. The 650b is not really in my price range. My wife was a little shocked at ~$1500, then I showed her a $2500 bike to point out how cheap the ones I was looking at were. You know how that went over.. LOL

The more I look at the geometry charts the more I think I'll be fine on a 20" Sonix. For kicks I compared the 20" Mary geo chart (which I ride now) and it's the exact same for the important numbers (seat tube, top tube). Standover is really only different b/c of the larger tires on the Mary.

I'll have to see what kind of deals might be available when the LBS gets back to me.

I'm 6'2", 230 lbs currently and ride a 20" Sonix. I spoke to one of the guys at Haro when I was looking at the Sonix and he confirmed that a 20" would work best for my height. I bought the base model in April and have slowly been upgrading the components. This is my first FS bike and I've been really happy with it.

You should be fine on the 20" size although I have to tell you that you'll be on the upper end of the spectrum. You may need to swap out the stem for a longer one if you feel like the cockpit it a little on the short side.

The 21" size on the Shift series would be a good fit for you...but we didn't make a 21" size in the 2010 models. We did make 21" sizes in the 2009 models.

Looks like its a null issue at this point. LBS called their Haro rep and they have nothing available in a 20".
