I am refreshing an older 26 inch bike and noticed that the rear hub appears to be for a disc brake but I presently have the XTR linear pull brakes on the bike. The disc hub does not put the wheel off center or cause any other conflict with using the conventional brakes does it?

A disc hub can be built with a rim that has a brake track for rim brakes. Or it can be built with disc-specific rims that have no brake track.

Yes, the disc interface does change the flange spacing from the center or from the endcaps (however you choose to measure that dimension), but the only reason that matters is to get spoke length correct. It does not make or break compatibility with rim brakes.

Thanks. I was having trouble getting the linear pull brakes set up and it occurred to me I might have a fatal flaw in the wheels but that sounds not to be the case.
