ok, i asked this same question a week or so ago.. tho there has been a change in what im willing to spend!

last time i asked for a FS bike thats around 500, now im trying to find one under 1500..

closer to 1200 would be nice, there HAS! to be one for me somewhere lol..

i test rode a 2011 X5 and i loved it, tho 1800 bucks is really steep!

ill be riding off road trails, nothing mental hard core, but off road with dirt and rocks..

thanks for any help.

Your best bet is to go with a used bike. However, the Sette Ace isn't a bad choice: http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/18...--/Sette-Ace-Bike-W_Rock-Shox-Monarch-2.1.htm

You can use the extra $500 to upgrade to a better fork/shock/wheelset (choose one).
hrrmm, thnx man, i never seen these bikes before!

it seems to have a very nice front shock and wheels on it, the rear shock seems a bit poo, so if i upgrade anything it would prolly be that..

to damn bad i dont live in Chicago!! (check link below)

I have a camber comp that was marked at $1500, what does your LBS have them at? You should be able to talk them into $1500.

I would go with the 2011 Giant Trance X4:

http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-US/bikes/model/trance.x4/7321/44098/

Here are the reasons:

1. Tapered headtube for increased fork stiffness and control during descents.
2. High end frame,it's the same frame that Giant uses on their $3,850 Trance X1
3. Hydraullic disc brakes
4. Rockshox Tora Fork, probably one the better.
5. Custom Giant Shock, it's not a Fox but it's suppose to work well with Giant's Maestro suspension system.
