Any problems using dishwashing soap or vinegar for chain/derailleur etc?

I was cleaning my shifters with a good bit of wd 40 spraying last night and that stuff gets into your lungs and throat...seems to just rise into the air in a fine mist...I will avoid using it whenever possible in place of green sources. When using wd 40 in the future i will put a bandana over my mouth and also wear latex gloves.

There are many parts on your bike that can be cleaned perfectly without using any cleaning fluids or solvents. To save me repeating myself, I'll direct you to the Basic Cleaning and Maintenance Guide that I wrote for the Beginner's Forum. Of particular note would be the section which addresses the use of WD40.

PS. Using all capital letters - as you have in your title - makes it appear as though you are shouting. There's no need, and you'll probably get more replies if you ask quietly.
