try Sycamore Canyon off of Central Ave in Riverside.
Don't know your criteria of "near" CSUSB, but Santa Ana River Trail is about a 35 mile drive from campus:

If Mtn Bike Bill calls it epic, I tend to agree. Haven't done it yet, but it's on our club's to-do list -- an all-day affair coming up from San Diego.

Also check out Bill's guides to rides in the San Gabriels ("SoCal Trails" links to left). The Blue Ridge ride is near Wrightwood which is a bit up north from you.

Cheers.
imma look these up right now, thanks much

A little closer than those is Hulda Crooks park in Loma Linda. I don't know of anything right around Cal State though.
There used to be some great singletrack above the campus. I haven't been there in years so I cannot say what condition it is in (if it is still there). We would ride up the road west of the campus towards Devil's Canyon. Once the road ends we would take the fireroad up about 3 miles. Before you reach the turnout (the lowest hang glider launch point) there is the singletrack. We would drop in there, follow the singletrack down, across the empty pool from the old nudist colony, then climb up briefly another section of singletrack before making the long decent down towards the far east end of the campus.
Were Is That ??? Usd Campus Down Town ???

yeah it's still there man, except once you get up the trail near the empty pool, the trail has been completely destroyed, by a good margin due to the rain, if you want to get to the other side your gonna have to climb down a good distance to even get to ground level and the path to climb up the other side is nearly impossible without the help of a riding partner to holster up the bikes after you climb up, but thats what mountain biking is all about :)
