How about all the fire-road in Marin and Sonoma counties? Should be a little cooler than the Central Valley.

Marin is a good bet.

I did a Strava search a month or so ago on fire roads around Groveland and many of those at about 4000 feet were clear of snow according to people's photos. I bet most are clear of snow up to 6000 feet but you will have to deal with downed trees.

Agree on the dirt fondo routes - boca/dog valley/old Reno road/emigrant all rode great on my gravel bike yesterday.

Lots of stuff up in the Sierras, above Sly Park, in between 50 and 80, in between 80 and 88 and even further South.

Truckee is 1.5 hrs from Sacto. Park at Emigrant Trailhead off Hwy 89 north and Hobart Mills Road. Ride out to Stampede reservoir, head across the dam, head north to Sardine Valley and ride out towards Loyalton. Numerous loops off of that. There you go.

Another vote for Marin. So many fun, scenic fireroads in the Tam and Headlands area. You could ride dirt from San Francisco to Olema then come back via Sir Frances Drake with a quick stop off for a beer/snack in Fairfax!
