So I took delivery of my new Anthem X 29er 3. I had been curious about exact weights of some of the parts and hadn't had much luck finding them. So I disassembled the bike all the way down to nothingness and weighed each part down to the shifter cable housing and rotor screws.

But since I went completely nuts and did all of this stuff I figured I'd pass it on. Oh well I needed to tear it down for the SRAM XX stuff to go on.

Swapping drivetrain and brakes to SRAM XX and wheels to Stan's Crest rims and American Classic hubs with some sort of lighter tire....23pounds here I come!!!!

If I were you, I'd clarify the weight of the frame right at the top, to clearly state it includes the BB. Some people might not read your post to the end, and will misinterpret the information.

I'm sure many people will find this post very helpful. Good job.

Nearly there...

Got a stock AX29er #1 and it weighed in at 27.1 lbs

Here's what I swapped:
Seat post - Easton EC90 setback
Bar - Easton Haven Carbon with 25mm sawed off each end
Grips - Ergon GX1
Tires - Conti Mtn King 2.2
Rims - Stans Crest + yellow tape
Spokes - DT Supercomp
Hubs - No swap here, I kept the stock DT350
Saddle - Fizik Gobi
Tubes - Tubes? We don't need no stinkin tubes!

Current Weight = 25.3 :thumbsup:

I noticed that X3 tires are listed at the Maxxis website @605grams, that's 100 grams less than the OP. I know tire wight can vary a lot but 100grams is just too much. Shame on Maxxis.

Crossmarks on my AX1 were 576gm. On the AX3 they must have lead lining.

All the X3s we got in came with wire-bead crossmarks (680 on the Maxxis site, I haven't weighed mine).

Good work man! Easy to see where the weight is on that bike. Removing the seat post and handlebar and replacing with carbon will drop some decent weight. The real savings obviously would come from taking out the boat anchor 29er tubes and replacing the 2200g wheels with something in the low 1,800g range. Easy 2lbs+ right there!

i believe it's 100mm.

my XL came with 110mm. i have a 100 and 90 on order to fit.

Thanks for the info on the stem. I cannot wait to pick up this bike. The weight weenie info listed by jreinan01 is outstanding. The cockpit components fron the X2 build seem the same as the X3 and that bar and seatpost are kind of pigs. A switch out of those two pieces plus tubeless should get some weight down. There was a thread where a guy used Bontrager Rhythm rim strips to set his Giant wheels up tubeless. Let's hope it works as well as he said.
