Been a longtime lurker and have built several lights. Like many of you I have spent way too many hours reading threads over and over in an attempt to design the next "perfect" light. My wife is wondering about the severity of my obsessive compulsive disorder. Anyway much thanks to so many of you that help educate the rest of us. I want to build a small format XML light with a 1.25" x 1.25" square tubing housing with heat sinking fins cut in it (with 1" x 1" internal dimensions), and a Laura optic. I have found this driver as an option that will fit in this housing and is inexpensive. It claims to put out 3 amps, but there are no posts where anyone has used it and verified the data. Has anyone used this driver? Does it in fact put out the 3 amps? Would it need heatsinking? Hoping this is a good option. What do you all think? I have considered the taskled offerings, but have not figured out a way to stay in the small size envelope I am hoping for. THANKS for any feedback you may have!! Still learning a lot!

Don't know which drivers from Taskled you were thinking of but my H6flex would fit inside at a slight angle. Put an angled piece on it for heat sinking and you would be set.

That driver looks more promising than the previous offerings. And since they spec 3A output it might get closer to the 2.8A range...not tested one so if anyone has speak up!

I was going to order a few of those drivers, and every time I added them to my order, they would show out of stock by the end of the day.
In theory, it looks like a decent driver.

It sounds like the soon to be Lflex driver will be perfect for your application.
It should be available for purchase really soon.
Probably much sooner than your package would take to get to you from KD.
The Lflex is approx 20mm dia BTW.
Here is the thread about the Lflex.

Thanks for the info on the Lflex. I have read that thread a couple of times and am anxious for those to be available. I am planning on getting that driver for the lights I am building for myself. One of the reasons I was asking about this other driver is because I am building a light for a friend that has a couple of Magicshine batteries that he wanted to utilize. At 7.4 volts for one XML there is too much heat dissipation and inefficiency for a single (he wanted a single). Was hoping this Kaidomain driver would work in his case. I have been toying with the idea of making a double XML, maybe I could swap him out of his batteries and get an h6Flex for that setup with the larger housing. Back to more obsessive compulsive thought processes! Does the insanity ever end??
