Yeah, but just because it's "normal" doesn't make it right.Padre said:On par with everyone elses funk though.
I'm so with you there.:thumbsup:Monte said:Yeah, but just because it's "normal" doesn't make it right.![]()
Yeah, 'cause it's soooo important to be able to run a flat bar and flipped stem....Padre said:I'm so with you there.
That's why all my bikes have appropriate head tubes.
The XXL Sultan has a 6.5" HT. It FITS the bike.
I'm not sure why builders and frame co's don't increase the HT size accordingly.
Cause they feel the same way about their road framesPadre said:I'm not sure why builders and frame co's don't increase the HT size accordingly.
At least builders are starting to catch on.Most of my mtb's had a 4-5" bar/seat difference in the 90's ( most bikes had 3" ht's, forks had short steerers and no good riser bars to be found). I bought an Orbea Orca road bike a few years ago...they took heat for their high head tube...now a lot of the mfgr's are going with the longer head tube.Padre said:I'm so with you there.

Now, now. Just because you're short doesn't mean you can't play nice.TheSingleGuy said:Yeah, 'cause it's soooo important to be able to run a flat bar and flipped stem....![]()
What's wrong with running a flat bar and a 90 deg stem? The bars I like are flat, I have long legs, my bike had a 4 3/4" head tube, I changed it to 6" so I don't have to run a cheap 30 deg stem plus spacers. Be happy you fit the off the shelf frame, some don't.TheSingleGuy said:Yeah, 'cause it's soooo important to be able to run a flat bar and flipped stem....![]()

XL sized frames for my 192 centimeter height requires no flipped stems - just some extra plumbing like that pictured above in the OP's beautiful Leviathan build:
and this...
At least my Sugar takes a few less spacers and plumbing thanks to 100mm fork and a riser bar...
I'll take Padre's solution over all the plumbing. Nobody bats an eye when they see pictures of the typical "less tall rider's" bike with saddle bar height just about even - or maybe even the bars a tad higher than the saddle. But if a tall guy posts a photo of the same set up, the amount of spacers and plumbing needed to match a similar set up gets the crowd all worked up.:nono:
Here's the typical photo we see in terms of set up for less tall riders (nobody bats an eye)...
