I'm coming down this weekend, and am very stressed about the
following topic. I need information from the locals or anyone with
Fruita experience. My problem is this.....I don't know what kind
of grips to use!!! I'm afraid that my hand might slip off the bar
while I'm gawking at the views. This might not be a problem on
18rd. but I don't want to fall into the Co. River while riding Mary's
Loop.

When riding in Fruita, I like to use bungee cords to secure my hands to the grips. You can use velcro in a pinch, but the elasticity of the bungee cords allow you to pick your nose if you move it close to the handlebars. If you bring a freeride bike, the handlbars are already farther up in the air, so you can probably scrape by with velcro or duct tape.

I had not thought of using bungees on my grips. Good
idea. I do often use them around my waist and through my
saddle rails. That way if I crash I always end up close to my
bike and don't lose it.(yes, it used to be a problem, but not
since I started using my bicycle seat belt)

Super glue

I smear superglue on the palms of my full fingered gloves. Then I just grab the grips tightly for about one minute. The fit and grip is perfect. Just slip your hands out of the gloves when you are not riding. Only one thing - be sure to NOT put superglue on your index finger. I made this mistake and only realized it after I started the drop into Horsethief Bench. NO brakes. Forced me to clean the entire section without slowing down, but I don't recommend it for first timers.

Ya'know, superglue is like good and all. But Llamma jizz really works best. Holds, when it must and will let go, better than SG. Pluss it tastes good!
