I haven't heard back from Spence yet to confirm this but I'm 99.999% sure that the bike being sold here:

http://classifieds.mtbr.com/cgi-bin...ults_format=long&db_id=103960&query=retrieval

Is NOT the same bike from the same person selling it here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...30008365657&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

Hopefully it will be pulled down soon, but its a beautiful 29er Lenz that is worth alot more than the $400 its being auctioned for . And instead of coming from Maryland, its being sold from Germany.

I have been in email contact with Spence about buying most or all of his bike, so when I saw that on ebay this evening I almost flipped. Especially telling was the line:

Please make sure that you contact me BEFORE you bid at my personal email address [email protected] for my reserve price and the terms of this sale, because i can`t access my ebay email address all the time. This is a one day auction because i plan to sell it immediately due to some problems i have with my budget and i want only serious buyers. If you bid before you receive an answer from me your bid will be cancelled. Thank you !!!

Maybe Spence did move to Germany and he REALLY wants to get rid of his bike. Maybe I missed out on the deal of the century. Only time will tell.

I have reported it to Ebay, but it seems doubtfull that anything will come of it. All they will probably do is ban that account so he can start up another one.

At the VERY least, hopefully scammers will learn that there aren't that many 29er up for sale in the world at any give time, so it's likely someone will notice. They should stick to scamming 26ers since I have no use for those bike anymore.

Close a thread for an item that is legitimate, if not correctly pictured (Mikesee's fork), but leave a thread up that deals with an auction that doesn't even exist anymore, WTF?
