A cyclist in his 40s is dead after he was struck and killed by a flatbed truck Tuesday night.
The man was cycling just before 8 p.m. north in the southbound lane of Leslie St. when he was struck by the truck travelling north and attempting to make a left turn on to Eastern Ave. police say.

He suffered massive head injuries and was rushed to St. Mike’s hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Thoughts are with the family and friends, never like to hear this stuff.

cycling at night in the city is like trying to run through a minefield...a quick note...he was riding south in the southbound lane, the truck was northbound turning left through his lane at Eastern Avenue.

i know the area well, the lighting is poor, and traffic can be heavy at times, its a bad intersection for cars as well, especially with the Loblaws store generating so much activity

to all our winter riders...take extra care
