Bogged down in my $2000 budget hardtail build.
I'm 225 lbs, recreational/fitness rider.
What are some wheel-set winners in the $350 to $450 range?

Those are fine if you have regular dropouts on the fork. Those hubs are not convertible.

I have a set of Charger Comps...tough to beat that deal at just over $200 for the wheelset, Stan's tape (pre-installed), 2 bottles of sealant, tubeless valve stems and skewers. Plus you get QR, 15mm TA and 20mm axle adapters. Not the lightest wheelset out there, but I shed 2+ pounds off my Giant OEM wheels with a little more weight to go with new tires. Definitely a wheelset you can pound on without worry. Would highly recommend if you're on a budget.
