I'm preparing for a 24hr race in October and I'm starting to make my grocery and spare parts list so I can purchase things slowly.

What foods and parts do you take to this kind of race?

On my list I already have water, gatorade, coke, trail mix bars, bananas and pasta. Any additional suggestions?

For parts in addition to tires, tubes and chain, any additional suggestions?

Food that makes you happy.

Seriously, at 3:00 AM you'll be sick of granola bars, gatorade etc... Put something in that you'll be really happy to have, for example: A Hershey bar, chocolate always goes down well and the chemicals in it are known to give a little lift.

i would cast a vote for some pretzels. i just did a 24 hour race and was way way way sick of sweet crap after a spell. pretzels saved my life, and you need the soduim anyway.

on the other side of the geek scale i might suggest some carbo-pro drink mix. this stuff is pure malto-dextrin. malto-dextrin is the active ingrediant in GU. this stuff tastes like nothing, and will mix into anything. i put it in lemonade and cranberry juice, for example. you can mix the **** up as strong as you want, right to the consistance and kick of actual GU, if you like. or, you can add some to gatorade and give it a little extra kick. good stuff. makes every other energy drink sorta stupid, really. this stuff works as good or better than anything, and you pick the taste.
