Hi - I bought a 2007 Stumpy FSR Expert (Grey anodised) a couple of months ago - firstly it's a fabulous bike - rides like a dream etc - I bought the expert beacause I thought it looked great and was the cheapest Stumpy with a brain- but one thing - the "specialised" logo on the top tube is already wearing off. I feel a bit let down as my £2000 bike is, after 2 months, already beginning to look a bit tatty.

I realise this doesn't affect the ride quality etc - but I dunno, I would have thought a company like Specialized would have had this sort of thing dialled by now :-/.

It's not what you hoped for...

Hate to break it to you but most of the anodized work on the FSR is paint and not truly anodized. I have a 06 Stumpjumper in the beautiful red/orange anodized paint. After a few rock, sticks, and general direct contact with the ground (crash), the paint is showing chips and nicks the same way any other paint would. Even in the dropouts, there is chipping from removing and reinstalling the wheels. Yes, it would be a beautiful thing if it was truly anodized but alas, they are not. It is just a really nice, fancy paint job.

at dropouts, derauiller hanger, headtube from pressing the headset cups in, etc. Most anywhere there is a nut-bolt-quick release etc. It still is the most durable finish of any Specialized mtb I've had in 7 years.

However, if the Specialized name is coming off, I'd take it back to your dealer. After two months, that should not be happening.

Mine still looks very nice. I wish Specialized would sell the new touch-up paint colors though.

the logo is not anodized, the frame is anodized, true anodizing is a chemical treatment of the metal that produces a colored layer of metal, it can be scratched or chiped, just not as easily as paint. dont forget, the frame is aluminum, very soft. the dealer can prob. get you some new logo stickers, but you cant really touch up anodizing

Sorry - yeah - it's the painted logo on the anodising that's wearing off......... I still think it's a poor show!

Just be aware, if you're thinking of buying an ano Expert, this may happen.

I have an sworks enduro , ano silver, so far the logoisi holding up, I bet the lbs can get you new decals or stickers or whatever they are
