Anyone have a good trail route for Annadel? I'm heading up today...any help would be awesome, otherwise we'll just wander around1

Cheers,
Chip
Well how long a loop do you want? Wherewolf's route is about 25 miles without his bonus loop and 30 with it. Take a look his map on his site. The trails I enjoy are South Burma, Lawndale, Schultz, and Ridge.

Down Channel drive, up Richardson and South Burma, down Lawndale, up Schultz and Ridge, back down South Burma, half way down North Burma and across Live Oak, then down Rough Go and Cobblestone. That's about 25 miles with 3,400 ft. of climbing. When you finish do the bonus loop by going back up Richardson and all the way back down North Burma to the singletrack along Channel Drive. That adds about another 5-6 miles and 500 ft. of climbing. Map on my site.

I did it yesterday and the trails were in great shape. Only a puddle here and there.

Wow...almost real time responses...awesome!! I know it used to be technical (which I love), but heard it is alot smoother now. We're looking for 15-20 miles mixing it up...
Thanks all,
Chip

You bet. Actually not at technical as I remember, but then I was riding it back befores Steves trail was closed to mountain bikes and that was the killer technical climb. Took my 19 yo son up there today and he only about 3 spots he had to clip out for in the climbs...no falls for either of us...we did about 22 miles using a modified version of Steven Wolfs recommended route. Just as fun as I remember though. About an hour and 15 minute drive for us each way. Here is a screen capture from Google Earth...I downloaded my GPS data...gotta love technology.

Cheers,
Chip

Any suggestions for cutting back Steve's route to ~15 miles/2k of climbing? Call it a day after you come back S Burma -> W. Richardson ?
Not sure about parking @ Channel (I got ripped off bigtime  ), I'd head farther down to the end & pay the $4 to have Ranger Bob guard your ride  :

Down Channel drive, up Richardson, up South Burma and down to Buick Meadows, left at bench on Marsh, continue on Marsh, right on Ridge, left at Marsh down to Canyon, right on Canyon, go left at the next intersection which will take you to the dam for rest/social time, go clockwise on Lake Trail, left on Louis, left on North Burma, left at Live Oak, right on Rough Go, right on Orchard Trail, left at Orchard Loop, left back on Orchard Trail, right on Cobblestone and down to Channel. If you parked there your done, if not, head right down Channel Dr. and just past the Ranger Station (green gate) look to your right for the single track. That will meander along Channel, pop out on to the pavement for awhile, then look for it again to finish back to the parking lot.

Melt,
Just checked Mapquest...it shows 5 miles and around 9 minutes from Lawndale to Melita (the north entrance to the park). I just parked inside and paid the $4 for the security is offers. Thanks though...

its ridicilous how many parks out here you cant go to without vandalism happening

back when i used to go to rockville all the time we parked at the cafe and rode up the rode ... and it seemed like every week you would see more car glass in the parking lot

then china camp for a while

a bunch out at soquel demo forest in the south bay

and now im hearin of break ins at annadel

another good spot to park though is spring lake park ... i cant remember what it costs at that lot but i used to run cross country there in high school

lately ive been parking at lawndale ... much closer to napa i think it cuts hella miles off the drive out there.
.....you finish down Lawndale, not that Cobblestone's a bad way either! But gacck has a point it's not that much farther, and with Ranger Bob & Rangerette Karen, somewhat more peace-o-mind.

Car theives are just mean
