Ranger is giving tickets for riding closed trails in Annadel State Park... Beware!!

He said that if the mountain bikers ride the "closed" trails all the single track would get taken away... WE DON'T WANT THAT, PLEASE DON'T RIDE THE CLOSED TRAILS.

Help...

This is going to be a good thread.
I stopped poaching trail there years ago because the rangers and decision makers at Annadel were doing everything right for mountain bikers. Don't poach Annadel. They are doing everything right. Help them help us.
... why I posted, I don't want the trails closed either.
It may be harsh, but if you are going to play you need to pay. Man up and just take the bullet.

Misdemeanors of this nature can be removed from your public criminal record down the road. A soft Judge may allow the case to be dismissed if you go certain things, pay fines, do trailwork, some kind of restitution. Be thankful that they did not cease your bike as evidence.

Did the OP say he got a ticket?

I saw ranger Bob there today on his horse, and as usual, he was having a friendly talk with bikers.

And to be honest, the legal singletrack at Annadel is as good or better as the IST.
Some of the recent work up there has been less than subtle. I'm not surprised.

Sounds like the OP is aware that there are poach trails there (which aren't always hard to see while riding the legal ones), and is pleading for the bandits to stop riding them.

GA is right: The sanctioned trails at Annadel are plentiful and plenty fun. Aside from perhaps a deviant streak, I can't imagine why anyone would ride anything else there.
Question - was this a signed trail that said "no bikes" or was it just an offshoot that was ridden? If so, where was it? I have seen and ridden a few offshoot trails there over the years, but never been on anything that was signed as closed... Was this the shortcut from Ridge down to Marsh?
the OP changed his original post, he said he was cited, that there was a newer sign that read "closed", that he wanted to know how to get the citation reduced from a misdemeanor to an infraction. he changed the posts after getting harped on

Yep!

If the trails say closed...then stay off.

agree...adel isn't one of those parks where trail access is a real issue...there is so much great stuff there already just leave the no bikes trails alone please...plus we have friendly rangers there as well and we don't want to spoil that either.
Sounds a lot like Demo/Nisene Marks....why ride the illegal trails when the legal stuff is good? There are many on this forum who do it on a regular basis.
Show us the ticket. Pics or it didn't happen.

Ah, well... In that case, pay the piper, Son! :D
At lease he isn’t handing out speeding tickets.

Agreed as to no riding the illegal single-track at Annadel. I have sympathy for people poaching in Marin or on the Pacific Crest Trail where bikers pretty much treated like lepers. But there are so many perfectly legal awesome trails at Annadel that it’s stupid to ride the illegal. I know there are a lot of trails up there that people have been riding for years. Why not flag down Ranger Bob and ask how we can get some of these trails opened up, legally?

I was told there was a policy in place that states that no user create trails can be incorporated into the legal trail system.
yea most of the illegal stuff at annadel sucks anyways not worth riding and pissing them off
