I have not riden the Crest sinse before winter, I wanted to plan a Redbox to Monrovia Canyon ride this Saturday. My excitement faded when I called the ranger station and was informed that Redbox, MT.Wilson Toll, Chantry, upper Monrovia Canyon is closed.

Chantry has been closed forever now! With these new closures and the speed at which the forest service seems to be working when can we ever expect to be allowed up there.

Has anyone gone ahead and riden the Toll road recently, How was it?

I guess ill be riding La Tuna for a while.

From what I've heard the Toll road is jacked! If you're interested in a shuttle run you're kind of out of luck right now. If you want to pedal you could climb lower merrils or Wilson trail up to the top.

FYI, Chilao is looking great right now, you just need to take a detour to avoid the road closure.

Chantry's Open

The road to Chantry Flats is not open to motorized vehicles; however, bikers can bike up from the closed gate. The area is nice an quite and the trails are in pretty good condition. The PO is going crazy though.

If you still have the email from the Forest Service stating that Chantry is closed for ever please post.

Not to so sure about the other ones. If you spoke to the Forest Service then I would go with what they said.

FYI, Chilao is looking great right now, you just need to take a detour to avoid the road closure.

Go up Angeles Crest Hwy at Clear Creek Ranger Station hang a left at Angeles Forest Hwy, take that and make a right turn at Upper Big Tujunga Rd, Upper Big T will Take you up to Angeles Crest Hwy, make a left and continue on to Charlton/Chilao area. This re-route is assuming the highway is still closed in the same spot.

On Saturday we started at the bottom of Chantry and rode to Monrovia cyn. Climbed all the way to Rincon Rd and then looped around through Newcomb pass and down into Chantry. There were no closures for bikes throughout the whole trip.

I think it was about an extra 20 min give or take.
