Hi!
I'll be visiting Anchorage for three weeks starting Monday.
I'll bring my 6inch full suspension bike and hope to get some advice on where to ride in the Anchorage area. Any places, by chance, close to Elmendorf AFB? Any group rides the coming weeks I could join?
And what about bike shops? Looking for shops with DH/FR/AM stuff...

I use the Bicycle Shop. I've also heard great things about RTR as well.

As for trails you're in luck! There are two sets of STA (Single Track Advocates) trails. One is up at Hilltop Ski area and the newly opened STA trails in Kincaid Park. There's also the Dome Trail as well. Lots of places to ride up here.

The new trails wrc mentioned above havent really made this list yet but are located within Kincaid park. Any bike shop in town should be able to point you in the right direction. I dont know of any shops right dowtown but Speedway Bikes in Spenard is probably the closest to Elmendorf.
