Do you know what forces affect shock linkage in these spots? I was wondering if it's possible to replace these steel bolts with alu versions or is Ti the only possible replacement?

These are pinch bolts. If you were to compare then to the stem/headset arrangement, the pivot bolts are the headset preload (but with linkage forces added) and the pinch bolts are your stem bolts (with some linkage forces added). Their job is to clamp the main pivot bolt and prevent it from loosening.

On the Cannondale Scalpel I know that there are Alu bolts, but there are bit different. And until now I had only once a small problem but the guys from C'dale helped real fast

I guess that you could use Ti if you don't trust Alu

on my 2009 spark rc, scott used black alu torx bolts. 5Nm seems to be pretty high for an alu bolt. i will go back to titan like i did it on my spark ltd the last two years because i destroyed one of this alu bolts when disassembling the frame for paint stripping.
