Edited to add the Terreno Dry to the mix.

My wife and I race a gravel race every year in May. Conditions range from dry and temperate to cold and monsoon. Course is 40% pavement/60% gravel. The gravel can range from "dirt pavement" to nasty chunky razor rock...... depending on when the county decides to regravel the road, rainfall and traffic.

I rode it last year on the 700x38c GK SS. They are the fastest tires I've ridden on these conditions and the standard by which any tire for this race would be measured.

Curious what people who've ridden both think of the Kenda Alluvium Pro or Vittoria Terreno Dry.

My 40mm alluvium pros were bombproof, and I’m a heavy dude. Put about 3000 miles on them, and barely showed any wear. They seemed a bit heavy, and they measured about 43mm. Never had any experience on the GK SS. I wanted to try something different, and decided on the 35mm Kendra Flintridge. I like the alluvium pros better.

I've put a ton of miles on gravel kings and they performed great. I did try a set of terrenos in 38s since I run vittoria on my mtbs. It was a nice tire but my 38's inflated to 43's which was more then I wanted.
I picked up a pair of these nearly new off PinkBike to try when the roads are not snow/ice covered. They are a solid 44mm on my 25iW rims. I'll still give them a go. We have some gnarly gravel here that the volume will help with. The question is... what is the tradeoff on pavement. The GK SS were super fast on pavement, but a bit sketchy on anything other that hardpack and they were anything but supple.
