Alligator STARLITE rotor VS. WindCutter - who's used them BOTH?

5309 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  TwoHeadsBrewing
I'm interested in the Alligator STARLITE rotor... or the WindCutter (Sawtooth?) They are light weight and look pretty cool. ( I guess the gold Ti coating wears off pretty quickly and makes little difference from what I've read).

Anyway - QUESTIONS:

1) How long have you run them?
2) How is the stopping power?
3) What brake pads do you use or recommend?

Any other comments?

Much thanks!

I'm also interested in the Starlite and Windcutter.

Bump!
Well, all I got for you is that I have the ti-nitrite coated windcutters (180/160) in Juicy 7's with Avid pads, they work fine (like rotors do) and the gold coating has worn through.
I think the rotors on my bike are the Alligator Wind-Cutter...? Anyhow, I am going to be using the 180mm rotors front and rear with Formula R1 brakes. I am still waiting for the brakes to come in, so I cannot comment on their performance as of yet, but I can tell you the following:

Weight: 180mm rotor #1 weighed 109g on my scale, 180mm rotor #2 weighed 110g on my scale. That is pretty darn light for a 180mm rotor, and I would say good consistency from one rotor to the next.

Initial Quality: They look to be well built

Looks: They are dead gorgeous, and mine aren't even the Ti-coated ones.

Any squeal or shudder issues? I was recommended these rotors and organic pads in order to get rid of the shudder.
