Looks as if your rear travel will be pretty much useless - I'm assuming you're going to be bottoming that tire on the seat tube, unless you've limited the shock movement internally somehow...?

If this really is a 26" frame that you've shoved a 29" wheel into.

IF so, you may be better of tossing the 26" wheel back on. Looks good otherwise!

aliens

it was a concern ,but ,the travel is damn near linear ,the rear shocks travel will not let the tire bottom out,not even close, unless the shock blows.wilbeer

You know a nice elevated chainstay 29er hardtail doesnt sound bad at all. I absolutely loved my Nishiki Ariel and Alien. They were beautiful and no chain slap (loved the quiet)- put thousands of miles on them.

they have made them for a while, they sell them at dicks :)
We don't have any at my store I work there. They must be out towards Colorado and big hit mountain bike cities. Anything worth checking out? I am sure they are about the same quality as the Diamondback Sorties.

You may see more selection this year, but it all depends on where your store is located and what your store sells a lot of. I'm a bike tech at a Dick's here in Ohio, and we had a few of the nishiki FS bikes last year. Nishiki at this point is part of the Raleigh bike family, and is under supervision from them to be manufactured only for sale at Dick's (to my knowledge, I could be wrong).

They sell these at the Dick's here in Ohio as well. It looks like the same frame and pretty much the same setup when stock as the Diamondback Recoil but this bike has obviously been upgraded pretty heavily. They want $499 for it at my local Dick's. Looks great with all the work you put into it.

Here's the Recoil for comparison...
