The parts of Alaska I was in back in '91 had some great riding. I rode the Johnson Pass trail somewhere near Hope, and when I crossed one creek there were a ton of firetruck-red salmon swimming upstream that I could have just scooped up with my hand. But I'm a nice guy, so I didn't.

I shot 'em instead.

Just kidding. But it was a point to point trail that I was riding alone, so when I was finished I stuck my thumb out to hitchhike back to the ride start. The first vehicle that drove by was an RV that stopped to pick me up. When I told them where I was going they informed me that I was hitchhiking in the wrong direction!!
