Hey everyone, the names Corrie, just joined MTBR a few days ago. Just thought I'd tell everyone a few things about myself.

I'm 16, live in Cambridge, Ontario. I work at a LBS called Gears and Grills. I build bikes, repair bikes, and sell bikes. I'm mostly into Treks and Giants. I own 1 Trek at the moment,

This Tuesday I pick up my new 2005 Liquid 25. My boss has been trying to get rid of it for awhile, and I decided to cancel the order for my Remedy 6 and take this for the great deal hes giving me.

Fork: Manitou Black Super Air(w/ SPV evolve, and TPC)130mm

Tires: Bontrager Jones ACX(Yuck I hate these tires!)

Nice bike. my G/F has a 4300 as well and loves riding it when she can. can't wait to see the piccies of your liquid. Me I have a long wait for my new steed as I am still paying it off on layby (fisher cake 2 dlx) counting down the payments 1 down 6 to go.

you will be happy with the liquid. Im not a fan of the changes they made on to the liquids to make them into a "remedy" frame.

The 05's where the best liquids they made. I got my 05 via frame warranty when I snapped my of frame above the BB. I just need to get the 05 rear triangle. I still have the 04 with the black magic seat stays. I hear the 05's went to an added pivot and away from the black magic flex stays.

I've got a '03 Liquid 10. It's all stock except for '05 Manitou Black Platinum IT fork, cushier seat, new chain, new middle frt ring, XT derail. I even have the original Trailbear tires on it; they grip great and wear like iron at 25psi.

Amazingly enough, zero problems with it.

Just a tip. Check your chain length. The bike had what I'd call decent shifting but not great. For the last 3 year I've been riding with too long a chain, and that's how it came stock.

I've always had some issues of the chain moving too far from the middle ring to the smallest frt ring, going past and coming off laying on BB. Also always had tons of chain slap noise and the rear shifts were never totally solid feeling; felt soft or mushy in a way when it shifted up or down.

I recently read a bit on chain length and found I could take a link out, which I did.

WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!!!

Every shift is now crisp and much more precise feeling. It goes into gear with authority. Only minor negative is that the pressure needed to move the shift lever with my thumb has increased slightly but that's nothing at all to fret about.

I've got an 03 Liquid 30 frame kitted out with LX gear and a new Revelation on the front. Very happy with. You won't be disappointed.

I picked up an 05 Liquid 25 in May, paid less than a grand for it and it's by far the sweetest ride I've been on. I recently utilized the Tubeless Ready wheels and got some Bonty XR TR's and I'm thinking I'll like it but they were a PITA to mount, almost broke my fingers getting the bead mounted, definately need tire tools. Besides that my only gripes w/the bike itself is the stupid 8" front disk, it'll rattle and hum all day long and I've been told it was a mis-spec on Trek's part, they went to a 6" front on this year's rememdy to solve the prob. Besides that, mine is missing a shift in the middle of the cassette, probably just need the cables tightened. I also broke a chain on my 4th ride, but the shop replaced it for free the same day so nothing wrong there really. The Manitou Air Suspension will keep you up at night wondering if you have the right PSI in the black and red valves and "what if" you added x psi, would you get that perfect ride? Just set it up according to Manitou's Quick Start quide, less PSI if you're doing more of a free ride style all mountain trail, a little more PSI if you're more of an XC rider. The seat is murderous on your boys also, get a new seat, sold my old one on ebay.

I think something may be wrong with your disc set up. it shouldnt chatter at all. I obly bought my liquid as a frame, so i dont know too much about the stock set up.

I am running hayes disc brakes with a 6" in the rear and an 8" in the front. They are perfect, no chatter, or rub at all. I am also running a fox talas rlc fork, and a talas float RL rear. both have been "PUSHED" so they are dialed in perfect. I also run a full XT set up.

Id ditch that manitou rear shock. Trek went for cheap when they had these speced with the manitou black forks and air rear. maybe im just not a manitou shock fan. they are always too finicky and squishy for my taste.

I recently re-mounted the front rim and the chatter is gone, although now it's rubbing so I guess there's a happy medium somewhere.

I love the Manitou suspension so far, the fork feels great and I'm a clyde so that's gotta say something. The shock I'm having mixed signals with so far, it's kind of a pain to set up because of where the valves are located, you have be a contortionist w/your hands to get the pump on it and after you get it inflated you always wonder if you have too much or not enough psi, etc. I've got it pretty soft right now but that will change soon, right now it's way too soft, I think I hit a pebble and used about 4 inches of the rear travel.:eekster:

im only 210, so barley a clyde, and i thought that manitou was way to soft, and squishy. It would react to everything.

the fox talas RLC fork is great. It seems pretty smart overall with adjusting to the terrain like its supposed. but it is a $600 fork, it better freaking rock.

What kind of pressure were you running in your Manitou? My fork seems pretty stiff and I'm about 250, although stiff might be a relative term.

DoubleTrek, did you get your Liquid 25 yet? Impressions? Lets hear some of your feedback.

Yes Destroy, I picked up my Liquid about 4 weeks ago. I've been riding it alot, and I am amazed at how well it handles the trails. The SPV evolve is awsome, no bobbing, and excellent rebound.

This bike has handled some 5-6 foot drops nicely as well. ILL NEVER RIDE THE TRAILS WITH MY 4300 AGAIN!!
